At Language Links, we offer three programs geared toward helping our students achieve their Korean language goals. Our popular programs will help you develop all five skills: grammar, listening, speaking reading, and writing, and provide you with a wealth of intercultural insight.

Through specific communication objectives and interactive activities, you will progress from basic communication situations to more complex interactions, where you must organize your ideas in order to inform, explain, narrate, convince, argue, or speak in public.

Communicative Korean

Become comfortable and confident as you learn to communicate in Korean.  Our native Korean instructors will teach students to develop all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and provide proficiency-based sequential lessons that lead students to a high level of competence in Korean.  Students will explore Korean culture and participate in interactive, practical lessons designed to help advance their personal and professional development.

REAL Speaking - Korean

Learn how to speak Korean with us at Language Links. Students will learn Korean through daily conversation where each lesson will is based on a conversational theme. Students will learn new vocabulary, common expressions, grammatical structures, the honorific system, and even understand Korean phonetics. Each lesson is fully contained to ensure that students leave the classroom feeling confident that they’ve learned something.

Want to understand K-pop and K-drama?

At Language Links, you can! All Korean movies, television, podcasts, and music are valuable resources to learn the Korean language.

Our students will learn, practice, and never forget Korean vocabulary, phrases, and grammar points found in popular K-Pop and K-Drama. This is a great option for students who like learning to be fun, laid-back, and conversation-based.

Fundamental: Level 1, 2, 3 & 4

Students are absolute beginner and are able to communicate in routine and predictable situations, in order to meet basic needs, carry out daily activities and deal with known topics of immediate personal interest.

Intermediate: Level 5, 6, 7 & 8

Students become more independent to communicate in a wider variety of everyday situations of social life, study and work, as well as in less predictable contexts.

Advanced: Level 9, 10, 11 & 12

Student can comfortably use the range of skills required to communicate effectively, appropriately, accurately and easily on most subjects, in situations and contexts from the most familiar to the most unpredictable, from the most general to the most complex.  Students understand the purpose of communication and adjust according to their audience to which they are addressing. Student develop skills for high-stakes or high-risk academic and professional settings, and in situations where the aspects of communication have a significant impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to learn Korean?

According to the Foreign Service Institute, it takes about 88 weeks or 2200 hours to learn Korean As with any language you want to learn, the more time you're willing to invest the faster you will learn. To make progress we recommend taking at least two Korean lessons a week.

Is Korean hard to learn?

The Foreign Service Institute ranked Korean as one the hardest languages to learn. Korean is a unique language, it belongs to the Koreanic language family and has around nine dialects. Learning a language with a new sentence structure and writing system can be daunting. Learning Korean can be hard at first, but after you've had some lessons with a private Korean instructor you will notice you're making steady progress.

How can I learn Korean?

There are many different ways to learn a new language, and it really depends on what works best for you. The key to learning a language is total immersion. With an online Korean instructor, you can learn Korean with a native speaker even though you are not in Korea. There are many more ways you can have a bit of Korea in your own home. Test your comprehension skills when you watch great films like "Oldeuboi" or "Parasite." Maybe you prefer to watch Korean dramas. And,  don't forget the international K-Pop sensation.  Use BTS, Blackpink, and other popular Korean songs to practice your pronunciation as you enjoy some tunes. For something more low-key, get comfortable on a couch and dive into the literary world of Sun-mi Hwang, Seo Jeong-Ju, or other Korean authors. Make sure to ask your Korean teacher for recommendations.
